The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced on Tuesday (Feb. 17) that Queens’ Casey Maas was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week and Ball State’s Victor Scherer was named the Defensive Player of the Week.

Maas led Queens to a 1-1 week against No. 11 Ohio State, giving the Royals their highest-ranked win in program history. Maas had 36 kills in nine sets for an average of 4.00 per set, including 22 in the five-set win over the Buckeyes. The sophomore outside hitter hit .333, including .405 in the Royals’ win. Maas is the first player from Queens to be named Player of the Week since the Royals joined the MIVA prior to the 2024 season.

Scherer paced Ball State with a season-high 13 digs in a 3-1 win over McKendree then followed it up with a match-high nine digs in a four-set win over Lindenwood. The senior libero dug out 22 total attempts for a 2.75 per set average, the second-most in the MIVA this week. Scherer helped Ball State hold the Bearcats and Lions under .250 hitting in both matches. This is Scherer’s first MIVA Player of the Week award.
