The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced on Tuesday (Feb. 10) that Zach Solomon and Kaden Fosdick were selected as the Players of the Week. Solomon picked up the Offensive Player of the Week award and Fosdick earned the Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Solomon led Lindenwood to a pair of MIVA wins over top-15 foes. The Lions topped Loyola Chicago in four sets and Lewis in three. The senior setter dished out 84 total assists, with 45 against the Ramblers and 39 against the Flyers. He added five aces in the sweep of Lewis. Behind Solomon’s MIVA-best 12.00 assists per set, Lindenwood hit .263 against Loyola and .565 against Lewis, the third-best in an NCAA match this season. This is Solomon’s fourth Player of the Week award, third of the offensive variety, and second this season.
Fosdick led Purdue Fort Wayne to two wins, one over MIVA newcomer Northern Kentucky and one over Daemen. The middle blocker from Middleton, Wisconsin was a force at the net, blocking 12 attacks in the two matches with seven against the Norse. He added a dig against NKU before recording five blocks against the Wildcats. For the weekend, he averaged a MIVA-best 2.00 blocks per set, helping hold NKU to under .100 hitting. This is Fosdick’s first Player of the Week award.
