Ohio State’s Shane Wetzel and Lindenwood’s Lincoln Geist were selected as the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association’s Players of the Week, the MIVA announced on Tuesday (March 24).
Wetzel led Ohio State to a pair of ranked MIVA wins over Loyola Chicago and Lewis. The senior outside hitter racked up 15 kills in a four-set victory over the Ramblers, then upped it to 17 in three sets against the Flyers with a .500 hitting percentage. He added three aces to his line of 4.57 kills per set and .442 hitting percentage. This is Wetzel’s fifth Player of the Week award in his career.
Geist picked up the second Player of the Week award of his career after averaging 2.25 digs per set for Lindenwood’s 2-0 week at Queens. The sophomore libero had nine digs in each match without a reception error in 40 attempts. In the first match of the series, Geist helped hold Queens to a .057 hitting percentage.
