The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced on Tuesday (March 17) that McKendree’s Bryce Wetjen and Loyola Chicago’s Aidan Klein were selected as the MIVA Players of the Week.
Wetjen led McKendree to a pair of wins over Belmont Abbey and Lindenwood. In the victories, the senior opposite averaged a MIVA-best 4.67 kills per set while hitting .392. He racked up a career-high 26 kills against the Crusaders then followed it up with 16 in a four-set win over the Lions. Wetjen led the Bearcats to their highest-ranked win of the season for his first Player of the Week award.
Klein led Loyola to two MIVA wins over Queens this week, averaging a MIVA-high 1.80 blocks per set and adding 0.40 digs per set. The junior middle blocker helped hold Queens under .200 hitting in the first match and under .100 in the rematch thanks to nine blocks and a pair of digs. This is Klein’s first Player of the Week award.
