ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The eighth ranked Lewis men's volleyball team defeated Dominican in four sets on Tuesday evening at Neil Carey Arena. Tyler Mitchem (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) led the way with a career-high 15 kills while Julian Moses (Atlanta, GA/Atlanta International School) added 13.

The Flyers (4-1) led 12-10 in the opening set when they began to take control with an 8-1 run to build a 20-11 lead on a triple block from Mitchem, Jake Walenga (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln Way North) and Ryan Van Loo (Burbank, CA/John Burroughs). The Stars (0-1) got as close as 20-14 on a kill from George Kougan but Lewis was able to close out the set by scoring five of the last eight points to win the opener 25-17.

The Flyers held an early lead in the second frame but were unable to hold it as Dominican used a 10-6 run to build a 14-12 lead after a kill from Jake Sidner. Lewis responded with three points in a row to regain the lead but the Stars answered with a 7-3 run to take a 21-18 lead. The Flyers got as close as two points three different times but were unable to get any closer as Dominican held on to win set two 25-21.

Lewis led by as many as three points early in the swing set before the Stars rallied to grab a 14-12 lead on a kill from Ethan Klosak. The Flyers countered that run with a 6-2 one of its own to retake the lead on a kill from Connor Pallmann (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North). Dominican refused to go away getting back-to-back kills from Klosak and Sidner to even things at 18.

Lewis regained the lead on an attack error from Adam Eboli and would go onto close out the set scoring seven of the final nine points to win 25-20.

The Flyers raced out to a big lead early in the final set and never let the Stars get closer than four points the rest of the match. Lewis led by as many as 14 points in the final set hitting .368 as a team with nine kills against two errors in 19 chances.

The Flyers finished the match hitting .311 with 45 kills/13 errors/103 chances. Van Loo had a season-high 35 assists in the match and Moses led the way with eight digs.

Klosak finished with a match-high 17 kills to lead Dominican while Sidner finished with eight kills. Jack McGuire had 24 assists and Bregin DeMarco had 12 digs. The Stars hit .132 for the contest with 43 kills against 26 errors in 129 total swings.

Lewis continues its three match homestand on Friday when it takes on UC San Diego at 7 p.m. Friday night's match will be Autograph Night and the start of Youth Volleyball Weekend.
