Loyola Chicago and Ohio State Advance to MIVA Final

Loyola Chicago and Ohio State will play for the MIVA Tournament championship on Saturday (April 26) at 6 p.m. CT/7 p.m. ET. The Ramblers beat Lewis and the Buckeyes upset McKendree on the road.

No. 1 Loyola Chicago 3, No. 4 Lewis 0
No. 1 seed Loyola Chicago got 22 kills out of MIVA Player of the Year Parker Van Buren to move past Lewis 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-23).

Van Buren was both high-volume and efficient, finishing with 22 kills while hitting .436 and added two aces. Jake Read has eight kills and All-MIVA performer Daniel Fabikovic had seven. All-MIVA setter Ryan McElligott had 40 assists and nine digs.

Oguzhan Oguz had 12 kills on a .346 hitting percentage to lead Lewis.

No. 3 seed Ohio State beat No. 2 seed McKendree 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-19) in a defensive battle.

The Buckeyes hit .228 as a team, holding the Bearcats to .193. All-MIVA First Team honoree Shane Wetzel had 10 kills, seven digs and three aces to lead Ohio State, while Newcomer of the Year Stanislaw Chacinski had nine kills.

All-MIVA First Team selection Nate Flayter had 22 assists, six kills, five digs and a block for McKendree.
