MIVA Unveils 2025 All-MIVA Awards

The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced its All-MIVA awards on Wednesday (April 16). Loyola Chicago's Parker Van Buren repeated as MIVA Player of the Year, Ohio State's Stanislaw Chacinski was selected as the MIVA Newcomer of the Year, and McKendree's Nickie Sanlin was named the MIVA Coach of the Year.

All three major award winners were unanimous selections by MIVA head coaches.

In his second Player of the Year honor, Van Buren led the MIVA and was third in the nation with 4.34 kills per set, while his hitting percentage of .410 was 10th best nationally. In MIVA play, he was even better with a 4.70 kills per set mark and .423 hitting percentage. Van Buren led Loyola Chicago to its eighth regular season title in program history with a 13-3 mark. He also led the Ramblers to an unbeaten 9-0 record outside of the MIVA. He was selected for four Player of the Week awards this season. Van Buren earned the seventh Player of the Year distinction in Loyola Chicago history.

Chacinski was top-10 in the MIVA with 3.16 kills per set this season, and like Van Buren, was better in MIVA play. He bumped his average up to 3.45 kills per set, the eighth-best in the conference and registered a .361 hitting percentage, sixth-best in the MIVA. Ohio State finished third in the MIVA with an 11-5 record. Chacinski is the eighth Ohio State student-athlete to be named MIVA Newcomer/Freshman of the Year.

Sanlin was at the helm for McKendree's first MIVA regular season championship since she started the program in 2014. The Bearcats were 19-7 and 13-3 in MIVA action this season, supported by a stout 12-1 record at home. McKendree did not lose to any teams outside of the AVCA Top 20 and finished its season on a four-match win streak to win a share of the regular season title. Sanlin led the Bearcats on a 12-match winning streak, the longest in program history. This is Sanlin's third MIVA Coach of the Year award.
