The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced on Tuesday (Feb. 4) that Loyola Chicago’s Parker Van Buren and McKendree’s Nate Flayter were selected as the fifth Player of the Week recipients of 2025.
Van Buren led Loyola Chicago to two wins over ranked teams last week with a pair of five-set victories over No. 10 Pepperdine and No. 15 UC San Diego. The senior registered 3.60 kills per set while hitting .389. Van Buren had 19 kills at Pepperdine with four aces, then followed it up with 17 more kills at UC San Diego. This is Van Buren’s 13th Offensive Player of the Week award in his career.
Flayter led McKendree to a three-set victory over Maryville last week. The sophomore setter finished with 11 digs and two blocks against the Saints. Flayter finished the week with a MIVA-best 3.67 digs per set and 0.67 blocks per set. This is Flayter’s second Player of the Week award of his career.
