MUNCIE, Ind. - The No. 1 seed Ball State University Cardinals won the MIVA Tournament Championship on Saturday (April 23) with a 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-16) win over No. 6 seed Purdue Fort Wayne.
Ball State was led by MIVA Tournament MVP Kaleb Jenness, who recorded 18 kills with a .421 hitting percentage. Quinn Isaacson paced the offense that hit .308 with 40 assists while digging out nine Mastodon attacks. Vaniz Buckholz had seven kills with a .545 clip and Angelos Mandilaris had 14 kills on .314 hitting.
Purdue Fort Wayne's Jon Diedrich had a team-high 10 kills. All-Tournament Team selection Zach Solomon had 32 assists while fellow All-Tournament pick Kade Bontrager had 12 digs.
This is Ball State's first MIVA Tournament Championship since 2002, and the Cardinals' 15th overall.
The Cardinals will move on to play in the NCAA Tournament in Los Angeles. Ball State's opponent will be announced on Sunday (April 24) on the NCAA selection show at 1 p.m.
