The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced its Preseason Poll and All-MIVA Team on Thursday (Dec. 22). Kaleb Jenness was picked to repeat as the 2023 MIVA Player of the Year and Ball State was tabbed as the favorite to win the 2023 crown.
The MIVA Preseason Poll and All-MIVA Team were voted on by MIVA head coaches.
Ball State earned 56 points with three first-place votes. Loyola Chicago was just two points back with a pair of first-place votes. Ohio State was one point back of the Ramblers, but was selected as the top team by three coaches. Lewis picked up 44 points, followed by McKendree and Purdue Fort Wayne with 26 points. Lindenwood (26) and Quincy (8) rounded out the poll in seventh and eighth.
Seven of the eight MIVA member institutions were represented on the Preseason All-MIVA Team. Ball State, Lewis, Loyola Chicago, Ohio State and Purdue Fort Wayne had two members each, and Lindenwood and McKendree had one each.
The men's volleyball season begins on January 5 when Ohio State hosts Central State.
