
The Quincy University men's volleyball teams tough road trip
continued on Saturday in a 3-0 loss to #15 ranked Loyola
University in Chicago, Illinois. The Hawks dropped the match 25-22,
25-15 and 25-16 as they drop their third consecutive match in as
many nights.
Facing a ranked opponent for the third straight night on the road,
including back to back matches against Loyola, the Hawks started
strong in the opening set but were unable to find their footing in
the final two sets. Quincy recorded a match 12 kills in the opening
set but Loyola recorded 16 kills and edged out Quincy. Quincy
trailed just 15-14 in the opening set when Loyola picked up four
straight points to take a 19-15 lead.
Quincy rallied and fought their way back with four of five points
late to close the score to 23-22. A service error by Loyola gave
Quincy hope while Ryan
Lehmann picked up a pair of kills to bring the Hawks to
within one point. However Loyola ended the Hawks chances with back
to back kills to close out the set and take the game.
Quincy fell behind early in the second set and was never able to
recover as Loyola cruised to the victory. The Hawks were even with
Loyola at 8-8 in the third set when Loyola rolled off five straight
points to get breathing room and go on for the win. Loyola hit .425
in the match with 46 kills and 15 errors while Quincy hit .180 as a
team with 26 kills and 15 errors.

Ascher each finished with seven kills. Quincy falls to
13-7 overall and 0-6 in the MIVA. They return to action with a
match at home on Sunday as they host MSOE at 1 p.m.
