Hawks Conclude Undefeated Opening Weekend
The Quincy University men's volleyball team could not have asked
for a better opening weekend to the 2012 season, going 3-0 on its
east coast road trip and concluding the trip with a 3-0 win over
King College on Saturday.
Coming off arguably the program's best season last year the Hawks
have picked up where they left off winning their first three
matches of the 2012 season. Quincy closed out play in the Mount
Olive Tournament held in North Carolina with a 3-0 win over King
College on Saturday morning. The Hawks took the match 29-27, 25-16
and 25-17.
After shaking off the early morning cobwebs in the opening set the
Hawks picked up their play in the final two sets to cruise to the
win. Quincy was led by Joe Sokol who finished with 13 kills while
Joe Ascher added 11 kills. John Pranger and Ryan Lehmann
each finished with nine kills and Steven Battaglia added eight
kills.
Andrew Ouano recorded 40 assists in the match while Matt Bronson
added seven digs. Quincy is now 3-0 on the season and return to
action on January 24th when they host Hannibal-LaGrange College at
7:00 p.m. in Pepsi Arena.
