IPFW's Corey Frain Honored as MIVA Defensive Player of the Week

Columbus, OH - After a career weekend at the net, junior middle blocker Corey Frain has been named MIVA Defensive Player of the Week.

In Friday night's four-set win over George Mason, Frain posted a well-rounded statline that included five kills, three digs and a .308 attack percentage.

In Saturday's win over Sacred Heart, the Joliet, Ill. native exploded for a career-high 14 total blocks, including 13 block assists. The block total is the highest single-game total of the year as the Mastodons posted a team-best 19.5 blocks as a team.

Overall on the weekend, Frain totaled six kills, two service aces, four digs, two solo stops and 16 block assists.

The honor is the first of Frain's career and third so far in the 2011 season for the Mastodons. Senior outside hitter Darryl Shank earned back-to-back Offensive Player of the Week nods in January.

IPFW returns to action Thursday (Mar. 10) with a conference matchup in Phoenix against the Grand Canyon Antelopes. First serve in the match is scheduled for 10 p.m. EST.
