COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s volleyball Shawn Sangrey has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week for his play in the Buckeye wins over 14th-ranked Lewis and 12th-ranked Loyola-Chicago. It is his third consecutive Offensive Player of the Week award and fourth this season. He collected a match-high 20 kills (.455) in the 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-17) win over Lewis. Sangrey added a career-high 13 digs against the Flyers adding two assist blocks and one assist. In the 3-1 (25-18, 25-17, 21-25, 25-21) win over Loyola-Chicago, he had 13 kills (.290), six digs, two ace serves, a solo and one assist block. For the two matches, he averaged 4.71 kills and 2.71 digs while hitting .375. On the season, Sangrey leads the Buckeyes in points (5.22), kills (4.39) and aces (.47) per set. He is averaging 1.71 digs and .69 blocks per set.
Fourth-ranked Ohio State (14-2 overall, 7-0 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) completes a five match home stand at 7 p.m. Friday when they face conference rival Ball State (10-6, 3-3) in St. John Arena.
