Hawks Rally For Win
The Quincy University men's volleyball team rallied from down
two sets to pick up a 3-2 win at home over Missouri Baptist
University. The Hawks lost the first two sets 25-20 and 25-18 but
took the final three sets 25-21, 25-17 and 15-10.
After Missouri Baptist hit above .400 as a team in the first two
sets Quincy was able to cool off the Spartans and get their own
attack on track. Quincy hit .464, .500 and .333 in the final three
sets while Missouri Baptist did not hit above .208 in their final
three sets. Quincy hit .364 as a team in the match with 55 kills
while Missouri Baptist finished with a .240 hitting
percentage.
After dropping the first two sets Quincy led just 11-10 in the
third set before putting together a run and opening up a 19-13 lead
and holding on for a win. The Hawks led from the start in the
fourth set including a 19-10 lead and were able to cruise to the
win and tying the match. Trailing 9-8 in the final set the Hawks
tied the score up after a kill by Ryan Lehmann. Lehmann gave the
Hawks the lead moments later with another kill and Quincy scored
the final four points of the set for the come from behind win.
Joseph Ascher led Quincy with 21 kills while Kyle Volstad added 11
kills with just two errors. Andrew Ouano added 48 assists and
Joseph Sokol finished with seven kills and six digs while Tanner
Wright led Quincy with eight digs.
