Ohio State Blanks Quincy, 3-0
Quincy University opened up 2011 MIVA competition against #6
ranked Ohio State University and dropped the match 3-0 losing by
the scores of 25-16, 25-17 and 25-19.
The Hawks offense held their own against the powerful Buckeyes,
hitting .213 as a team but the Buckeyes offense proved too strong
for the Hawks defense hitting .500 as a team with 40 kills and just
eight attack errors. Quincy hit .296 as a team in the first
set, finishing with 12 kills and just four errors. However the
Buckeyes hit .480 as a team with 15 kills and just three
errors.
Quincy had a match high 14 kills in the second set but again the
Buckeyes did not make mistakes as they finished with just one
attack error in the set and hit .562 as a team. The Hawks had their
lowest hitting percentage of the match in the third set, just .111
while Ohio State finished Quincy off with 15 kills and hitting .478
as a team.
Quincy committed 13 service errors in the match with no aces while
Ohio State finished with two aces and just seven service errors.
Quincy was led by Ryan Lehmann's 12 kills while Andrew Ouano
finished with 34 assists.
Quincy falls to 3-4 overall and 0-1 in the MIVA and will take on
Ohio State once more, tomorrow night, before returning home for
three matches on Sunday.
