Steady Weekend Earns IPFW's Shank Player of the Week Honors

Shank was honored as the MIVA Player of the Week, after
guiding his squad to a series split last weekend against the
Pacific Tigers.
Shank totaled 26 kills and added 13 digs and six blocks in the two
matches with the visiting Tigers. The London, Ont. native posted a
.391 attack percentage as his team hit .415 overall in Saturday's
3-0 sweep.
The award is Shank's third of his career (Feb. 15, 2010 and Mar. 8,
2010).
Last season's 520 kills (the ninth best single-season mark in IPFW
history) led to Shank taking the title as the conference leader in
kills per game at 4.68 in addition to his First Team All-MIVA
selection. Shank currently ranks fourth in the category in the 2011
season at 3.18.
IPFW opens conference play Friday as they play host to No. 10 Ohio
State at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center in Fort Wayne. First
serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
