Quincy closes regular season in loss to IPFW

(Quincy, Ill.) The Quincy University men's volleyball team closed out their 2010 regular season with a 3-1 loss at home to IPFW on Saturday by the scores of 30-20, 30-27, 30-24 and 30-26.

IPFW opened up an early lead in game one, jumping out to an 18-11 advantage. The Hawks were never able to close the score any closer than five points as the Mastodons rolled to the win hitting .300 as a team while Quincy hit just .065 as a team. Quincy pounded the ball in game two, hitting .452 with 16 kills and just two errors but it was not enough as they dropped the second game as well. Quincy held a 25-20 lead in the game but IPFW rolled off five straight points to get back into the game and take the lead.

Quincy did manage to take the third set, hitting .324 with 15 kills and four errors as IPFW hit a match low .114 as a team. The Hawks were unable to carry that into the fourth game however hitting just .179 with 12 kills and seven errors. Quincy finished the match hitting .258 as a team while IPFW hit .305 as a team with 62 kills and just 22 errors.

Quincy was led by Chris Zeidler's 13 kills while Joseph Ascher added 11 kills and Ryan Lehmann finished with 10 kills. Dan Dresen added 40 assists for Quincy while Matt Bronson finished with seven digs. Quincy falls to 15-17 overall and awaits the announcement of the pairings in the 2010 MIVA Tournament.
