(Phoenix, Ariz.) The Quincy University men's volleyball team recorded their second consecutive win and their second MIVA win this season with a 3-2 decision on the road over Grand Canyon University. Quincy took the match 30-26, 26-30, 24-30, 30-27 and 15-13.
The Hawks made the most of their chances in the match and played a strong middle defense against the Antelopes. Quincy was out hit 70-58 in kills but managed to record 14.5 total team blocks in the match. The Hawks picked up a 30-26 win in the first game but saw the host Antelopes take the next two sets.
Quincy responded in the fourth game with a 30-27 win as Joseph Sokol led the charge in the set with five kills. Quincy was able to finish off Grand Canyon in the fifth set 15-13 with a kill from Tim Lovik. Quincy limited their mistakes, committing just two service errors while recording seven aces. The Hawks hit .215 as a team with 58 kills and 26 errors. Peter Coley led Quincy with 14 kills while Sokol finished with 12 kills and Joseph Asher added 11 kills. Dan Dresen ran the Hawk offense with 36 assists while Tanner Wright finished with 19 digs.
Quincy improves to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in the MIVA and will return to action tomorrow night with another road MIVA contest against Grand Canyon at 7 p.m. in Phoenix, Arizona.
