Dainis Berzins, a sophomore outside hitter for 13thranked Loyola-Chicago (19-11 / 8-4 MIVA) has been named the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Offensive Player of the Week.
In helping lead the No. 3 seeded Ramblers to a 3-1 MIVA Tournament quarterfi nal victory over No. 6 seed IPFW, Berzins turned in one of his best performances of the season, blasting 17 kills for a 4.25 kills-per-set average, well above his season average of 2.13.
He also tallied a .303 (17-3-33) attack percentage, to lead the squad in the match, while averaging 4.63 points per set, once again well above his season average of 2.62. In addition to his solid offensive performance, Berzins racked up eight digs, two total blocks (one solo and one assists) and a perfect 1.000 (22-for-22) reception percentage.
